Use the lowa zephyr gtx for work. Unbelievably comfortable. Recommend a good sock like darn tough with them. Have used many different brands of boots and lowa is by far my favorite; however, I’ve never used Salomon. Optactical has a sale on lowa as well right now for 25% off. I will say the soles wear out rather fast.
12-Mar-10. I have Meindl Nepals and the Hanwag Alaska GTX. For my foot shape the extra lace islet (5 total before the deep pull)toward the toe (Like Kenetrek,and models of other manu's)gives me the best fit and comfort. Lowa's and most Meindel have just four.The exception is the original Meindl Perfekt. (5)

Currently I run the Granite. I LOVED the beartooth but the toe box would pinch my toes fiercely when I crouched down. The stiffness in the Granite doesn't bother me and I couldn't be happier. The Granite is 200 g insulated. However the boot breathes incredibly and even here in Texas I don't find my feet sweating at all with the Granite.
